Welcome to 30 Quills!

This is a low-pressure, friendly community that will enable writers and artists to develop
their skills through thirty themes that will be based on various quotes and adages.

Can you rise up to the challenge?

Before proceeding any further, please be warned that this community
welcomes pairings of all orientations, which means that it is - yaoi - yuri - het - friendly.
Neither heterophobia or homophobia will be tolerated.

{1} Every participant may claim up to two characters and two pairings at the same time. This means that threesomes are not allowed. If you wish to claim two characters or two pairings, they must be from different fandoms. Crossovers, however, are permitted. Please keep in mind that claiming two characters and/or pairings means that you are expected to do all 30 themes for each of them. This also applies to original characters/pairings.

{2} Up to two participants can claim the same character/pairing. The characters/pairings that you claimed will be yours for the duration of your 30 themes. Once you have completed all 30 themes, they will be open for anyone else who wishes to claim them.

{3} Collaborations are allowed, but will be limited to only two people per character/pairing. This means that you will work together to complete one set of 30 themes, not that you each do 30 on your own. However, the fandom rule will still apply to the both of you.

{4} Before you request for a character/pairing, please check the list of claimed characters/pairings beforehand to confirm that they have not been taken twice. To request, please respond to this post with the subject line "request". Make sure you include the full names of the characters you wish to claim and the fandom that they are from. Also, please state if it is a crossover between two fandoms.

If you have already requested for a character/pairing and would like to request another, please make a new comment at the thread instead of replying to your old comment. If you do that, the chances are high that we will not be able to see it.

After you have completed all 30 themes for your character(s)/pairing(s) or decide that you can't/don't want to finish, please leave a comment in this post so that they will be free for others to claim.

{5} Though this is a low-pressure community, please try post something once every two months because it will not fair to the other people who might want to do that particular character/pairing. If you remain inactive for far too long, your character(s)/pairing(s) may be put back to the drawing-board and free for others to claim.

{6} When a character/pairing is claimed, that counts for both writing and art. Doing either one or the other is allowed as no one is required to do both, but it is definitely encouraged.

{7} You need not do the themes in order. So, just do them as inspiration strikes! Also, interpretation of the themes is entirely up to you. The contents of your fic/art need not be exactly what the theme suggests, just as long as the 'feel' of the theme is there.

{8} The style of your entries is entirely up to you. For authors, the length of your story/fiction can be as short as a 100 word drabble or as long as a multi-chapter fiction. Similarly for artists, it can be a rough sketch or a really complicated piece of artwork. All that is important is capturing the feeling of the theme. Do not worry about your fiction or artwork being good or bad. After all, the point is to try new things.

{9} Submitting works that have already been done and made public is allowed, but not encouraged.

{10} When posting, please use the following format;

[Subject line]
Fandom, Title of story/artwork, Pairing, Theme

Theme(s): (Include the # and the full theme)
Character/Pairing: (Include the full names the characters)
Fandom: (Include the full name and state if it is a crossover)
Disclaimer: (Please include a disclaimer in every of your post, unless you are submitting your own original work. But if your fandom involves real people, your disclaimer must state that your fanfic(s)/fanart(s) are purely fictional and do not imply any actual relationship or event)

Please bear in mind that your entries must follow the format above, but you are allowed to include any extra notes in your posts if you so desire. Also, if you do not wish for your entry to be archived in the memories section, please indicate that in the header as well.

{11} Anything longer than a paragraph and all artwork must be put behind an LJ-cut. (Or linked to your own journal, webspace, etc)

{12} All ratings are accepted here. However, anything that is rated R or higher must be put behind an LJ-cut and clearly marked as such in front of the LJ-cut.

{13} If you are posting something with more than one chapter, it is entirely up to you whether you want to post a chapter at a time, or wait until you have finished the whole thing.

{14} Plagiarism will absolutely not be tolerated.

{15} Feedback is wonderful, but it should always be constructive. Flaming will be frowned upon.

If you have any questions, please direct them to this post.
